This first stage is a chance to meet you and you’re garden and introduce any ideas and needs you might have. It is followed up with a written report that includes a proposed budget.
Once the decision to continue to Concept Design has been reached, a full garden survey is needed. This is an essential stage that accurately accounts for things like level changes and existing structures and services that could alter the design and construction if not correctly accounted for. Depending on site and project, advise will be given on whether the survey can be undertaken in house or via the services of a professional landscape surveyor.
The Design Process includes layout plans of typically 2-3 Concepts with supporting imagery and, 3D visualisations. These are presented and discussed with the client before finalising for Master Plan stage
Master Planning and Detailing includes a fully scaled Master Plan and any Construction Details necessary to achieve accurate quotations from landscape contractors and the greatest possible quality of finish.
Detailed Planting Plans, Schedules and supporting Mood Boards are drawn up and signed off before sourcing. Design and sourcing of furniture, lighting and accessories can also be carried out on behalf of the client.
On completion of the Master Plan and Details, an estimate for the build will be sought by up to three landscape contractors who are asked to tender a quotation. They will receive all relevant drawings and documentation for a thorough and accurate appraisal.
Going to tender however is not always necessary and at this point a discussion between client and designer will establish if it is the most efficient way to proceed. Contractors are always employed directly by the client, allowing all work to be impartially monitored by Katharine on behalf of her clients.
When the build starts, project monitoring begins. This involves regular, arranged site visits to monitor quality and progress, deal with any design questions and ensure a smooth, hassle free process for Client and Contractor.
